Santo Domingo, Republica Dominicana.- El Comité Ejecutivo de la Union Panamericana de Judo (UPJ), pasa por la honda pena de informar la infausta noticia del fallecimiento del profesor Alejando Guiliano (3-8-1952 / 16-9-2026), en horas de la tarde de este 16 de septiembre 2026.
Alejandro fue un referente técnico del judo chileno durante varias décadas lo que le permitió escalar diferentes posiciones en el ámbito continental e internacional siendo director técnico deportivo de la Union Panamericana de Judo (UPJ) y de la World Judo Federation (WJF).
Alejandro Giuliano fue miembro fundador de la World Judo Federation en representación de Chile el 26 de agosto 2010 en Rio de Janeiro en compañía de otros destacados dirigentes a nivel mundial.
Le sobreviven su esposa Silvana y sus hijos Lionello, Caterina y Estefania a quienes los países miembros de la Union Panamericana de Judo le extienden sus más sinceros pésames ante esta lamentable noticia a la vez que hacen sus mejores votos para que en la comunión familiar puedan encontrar la debida resignación.
Giuliano, Sexto Dan con cinturón rojo y blanco, se le veía siempre en las prácticas de la disciplina, organizando eventos, trabajando en los sorteos y manejo deportivo de los 
torneos tanto en su país natal como en eventos internacionales.
Su participación en exhibiciones de Kata o compitiendo en eventos master era normal en sus quehaceres deportivos los que hilvanaba con sus labores profesionales con probada honestidad y dedicación como excelente padre y mejor esposo.
«Hemos perdido un referente del judo nacional y continental en la persona de Alejandro Giuliano y nos quedan sus enseñanzas con verdadera amistad en el contexto humano en el deporte de judo donde sobresalió», así se expresó la profesora Elizabeth Thompson quien es vicepresidenta de la Union Panamericana de Judo al conocer la lamentable noticia.

Alejandro was a key technical figure in Chilean judo for several decades, a role that allowed him to rise to prominent positions at both the continental and international levels, serving as Technical Director for the Panamerican Judo Union (PJU) and the World Judo Federation (WJF).
Alejandro Giuliano was a founding member of the World Judo Federation, representing Chile, on August 26, 2010, in Rio de Janeiro, alongside other prominent global leaders in the sport.
He is survived by his wife, Silvana, and his children, Lionello, Caterina, and Estefania.
The member countries of the Panamerican Judo Union extend their sincerest condolences to the family upon hearing this unfortunate news and offer their best wishes that they may find solace and acceptance through the comfort of family unity.
Giuliano—a 6th Dan holder with a red-and-white belt—was a constant presence at training sessions, organizing events, and managing tournament draws and operations, both in his native country and at international competitions.
Participating in Kata demonstrations or competing in Masters events was a regular part of his sporting life; he balanced these activities with his professional career, always demonstrating proven honesty and dedication, while also being an excellent father and a devoted husband.
«In Alejandro Giuliano, we have lost a leading figure in both national and continental judo. We are left with his teachings and the memory of his genuine friendship within the human side of the sport where he excelled,» said Professor Elizabeth Thompson, Vice President of the Panamerican Judo Union, upon learning the sad news.
