World Challenge Day began in 1983, during a harsh Canadian winter when temperatures plummeted to -20\u00b0C. The story goes that Mayor Clifford of Saskatoon proposed an initiative that required everyone’s cooperation.<br \/>\nHe asked residents to turn off their lights at 3:00 PM and walk for 15 minutes around their nearest block. This was an invitation to exercise.<br \/>\nIn addition to promoting physical activity, the initiative resulted in significant energy savings, which could be calculated based on the number of people participating.<br \/>\nThe following year, the experience was shared with the neighboring city, and they held the walk together on the same date and time. This is how the spirit of what would become World Challenge Day was born. Back in 1990, Tafisa (The Association for International Sport for All), with significant support from ISCA (International Sport and Culture Association), took over the organization of the event, which began to gain momentum and followers.<br \/>\nIn many countries, walks are held to promote health, as they help reduce cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and obesity. They also foster social integration by strengthening the community and raise environmental awareness by encouraging a connection with nature.<br \/>\nIn this spirit, the Panamerican Judo Union (PJU) fully participates in the activities of this World Challenge Day with its affiliated national entities.<br \/>\nOn this occasion, Fenajudo, the Chilean judo federation, took the initiative to hold activities in both Conventional and Paralympic Judo, led by Sensei Elizabeth Thompson and Lizardo Suazo.
