A 25 A\u00d1OS DE LA PARTIDA DE SERGIO ADIB BAHI \/ 25 YEARS AFTER THE DEPARTURE OF SERGIO ADIB BAHI<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n<\/div>\n

Santo Domingo, Rep\u00fablica Dominicana.-<\/strong> Aquel 25 de julio 1999 cuando nos encontr\u00e1bamos en la ciudad de Winnipeg, Canad\u00e1, en la ocasi\u00f3n de la realizaci\u00f3n de los XIII Juegos Panamericanos cuando recibimos la infausta noticia del fallecimiento en su pa\u00eds natal, Brasil, y de manera espec\u00edfica en la ciudad de S\u00e3o Paulo de quien desde 1996 hab\u00eda sido el presidente de la Uni\u00f3n Panamericana de Judo (UPJ), Sergio ADIB BAHI.
\nSergio, c\u00f3mo amistosamente le llam\u00e1bamos reemplazo al licenciado Frank Garbo, puertorrique\u00f1o, al frente de la entidad rectora del judo continental como ya indicamos en 1996.
\nTengo la plena seguridad de que Sergio se encaminaba hacia una reelecci\u00f3n segura en el a\u00f1o 2000 para continuar con sus planes frente a la Uni\u00f3n Panamericana de Judo (UPJ)
\nEn la oportunidad mi persona asist\u00eda a ese magno multidisciplinario continental en condici\u00f3n de Director Administrativo de la Delegaci\u00f3n de Rep\u00fablica Dominicana posici\u00f3n que era de rigor por ser tesorero del Comit\u00e9 Ol\u00edmpico Dominicano (COD).
\nPara le \u00e9poca y desde 1998 me desempe\u00f1aba como Secretario General de la Uni\u00f3n Panamericana de Judo y al fallecer Sergio asum\u00ed las funciones de \u00e9l ante la organizaci\u00f3n del evento de Judo de estos XIII Juegos Panamericanos.
\nPosteriormente a finales de 1999 y en Montevideo, Uruguay, el Comit\u00e9 Ejecutivo de la Uni\u00f3n Panamericana de Judo me dio su confianza para la funci\u00f3n de presidente y de esta manera completar el periodo de ADIB BAHI.
\nHoy d\u00eda recordamos a Sergio y sus esfuerzos para tener una Uni\u00f3n Panamericana de Judo acorde con la \u00e9poca y la entrada exitosa al siglo XXI.<\/h3>\n

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.-<\/strong> That July 25, 1999 when we were in the city of Winnipeg, Canada, on the occasion of the XIII Panamerican Games when we received the unfortunate news of the death in his native country, Brazil, and of specifically in the city of S\u00e3o Paulo of who since 1996 had been the president of the Pan American Judo Union (UPJ), Sergio ADIB BAHI.
\nSergio, as we friendly called him replacement for Mr. Frank Garbo, Puerto Rican, at the head of the governing entity of continental judo as we already indicated in 1996.
\nI am completely sure that Sergio was heading towards a safe re-election in the year 2000 to continue with his plans against the Panamerican Judo Union (PJU).
\nOn the occasion, I attended this great continental multidisciplinary event as Administrative Director of the Delegation of the Dominican Republic, a position that was required for being treasurer of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD).
\nAt that time and since 1998 I served as Secretary General of the Panamerican Judo Union and when Sergio died I assumed his duties in the organization of the Judo event of these XIII Panamerican Games.
\nLater, at the end of 1999 and in Montevideo, Uruguay, the Executive Committee of the Panamerican Judo Union gave me its trust for the role of president and in this way complete the period of ADIB BAHI.
\nToday we remember Sergio and his efforts to have a Pan American Judo Union in keeping with the times and the successful entry into the 21st century.
