Legado de dirigentes del Judo Panamericano fallecidos<\/h2>\n
Santo Domingo, Rep\u00fablica Dominicana.- Los logros de la Uni\u00f3n Panamericana de Judo han tenido \u00a0diferentes personajes que con su trabajo imprimieron su legado en el judo continental de manera permanente y para siempre.
\nAlgunos escapan a nuestro conocimiento dado que esos 68 a\u00f1os de existencia de la entidad dejan en el camino a dirigentes no menos importantes que los actuales.
\nEs obvio que los que iniciaron como directores de esta entidad rectora del judo continental all\u00e1 por 1952 y en su gran mayor\u00eda deben haber partido a mejor vida.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
En las \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas importantes figuras directivas del judo continental nos han dejado y su gran mayor\u00eda en el pleno ejercicio de sus funciones continentales.
\nLos m\u00e1s sentidos fallecimientos en las personas de Frank Fullerton, Sergio Adib Bahi, Carlos Catalano Callejas, Serge Piquette, Ernst Laraque, Adolfo Croes, Frank Carbo, Juan Charteris Reyes y Wellington Rodr\u00edguez de Le\u00f3n.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Muchos de ellos trascendieron fuera del \u00e1mbito continental como es el caso de Frank Carbo y Sergio Adib Bahi quienes en sus condiciones de presidentes de la Uni\u00f3n Panamericana de Judo de manera autom\u00e1tica les correspondi\u00f3 la vicepresidencia del organismo rector mundial de la disciplina.
\nPor su parte Carlos Catalano Callejas fue el primer Director de Arbitraje del organismo mundial y Wellington Rodr\u00edguez de Le\u00f3n ocup\u00f3 por largos a\u00f1os la tesorer\u00eda.
\nEl se\u00f1or Frank Fullerton fue de larga trayectoria con un verdadero historial como fil\u00e1ntropo del judo continental y una honestidad a toda prueba.
\nComo an\u00e9cdota del se\u00f1or Fullerton en la oportunidad de correr para la posici\u00f3n de tesorero de la organizaci\u00f3n mundial y habiendo perdido la posici\u00f3n por un voto tenia la posibilidad de pedir un recuento de votos a lo que no opt\u00f3.<\/div>\n

A la fecha la Uni\u00f3n Panamericana de Judo (UPJ) ha tenido 11 presidentes desde su fundaci\u00f3n, cont\u00e1ndose entre ellos Carlos de Lejarza, cubano, 1952-56; Augusto De Oliveira Cordeiro, brasile\u00f1o, 1956-60; Oscar P\u00e9rez, argentino, 1960-64; Frank Hatashita, canadiense, 1964-1972; Carlos Bislip, arube\u00f1o, 1972-76; Radhames Torruella, puertorrique\u00f1o, 1976-80; Miguel Fern\u00e1ndez, brasile\u00f1o, 1980-82; Sarkis Kaloghian, argentino, 1982-88; Frank Carbo, puertorrique\u00f1o, 1988-96; Sergio Adib Bahi, brasile\u00f1o, 1996-99 y Jaime Casanova Mart\u00ednez, dominicano, 1999- actual.<\/span><\/div>\n

Legacy of deceased Panamerican Judo leaders<\/h2>\n

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.- The achievements of the Panamerican Judo Union have had different characters who with their work have permanently and forever imprinted their legacy in continental judo.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Some escape our knowledge given that those 68 years of existence of the entity leave on the way leaders no less important than the current ones.<\/div>\n
It is obvious that those who started as directors of this governing body of continental judo back in 1952 and the vast majority must have left for the better.<\/div>\n
In the last decades, important leading figures of continental judo have left us and the vast majority in the full exercise of their continental functions.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The most heartfelt deaths in the people of Frank Fullerton, Sergio Adib Bahi, Carlos Catalano Callejas, Serge Piquette, Ernst Laraque, Adolfo Croes, Frank Carbo, Juan Charteris Reyes and Wellington Rodr\u00edguez de Le\u00f3n.<\/div>\n
Many of them transcended outside the continental sphere, such as Frank Carbo and Sergio Adib Bahi, who in their conditions as presidents of the Panamerican Judo Union automatically corresponded to the vice-presidency of the world governing body of the discipline.<\/div>\n
For his part, Carlos Catalano Callejas was the first Director of Arbitration of the world body and Wellington Rodr\u00edguez de Le\u00f3n held the treasury for many years.<\/div>\n
Mr. Frank Fullerton was a longtime career with a true track record as a continental judo philanthropist and uncompromising honesty.<\/div>\n
As an anecdote of Mr. Fullerton in the opportunity to run for the position of treasurer of the world organization and having lost the position by one vote he had the possibility of requesting a recount of the votes to what he did not choose.<\/div>\n
